At the current state of knowledge, treatment for cerebral palsy and its associated conditions is aimed at management of day-to-day life and prevention or mitigation of effects. It is a lifelong condition and a cure has not been found for the condition itself, though conditions that exist with it (for example, seizures for some children) can sometimes be effectively eliminated.
The first section of the list contains recognised conventional and complementary approaches that are offered as a part of mainstream medical practice; or by practitioners who are regulated in the UK by the Health Professions Council; or by maintained educationalists in the UK. Those that are sometimes offered through the mainstream, but not everywhere (such as homoeopathy) are included. Where there are also major private specialist providers offering similar approaches, these are also included.
The second section of the list contains other complementary and alternative approaches that are offered privately. It includes some that are mainstream in other countries but not in the UK, and some that are only available outside the UK. Where possible, references are given for published evidence available in English.
