Vagus Nerve Stimulation

This is a form of epilepsy surgery, in which a small electrical stimulator sends regular pulses to the left vagus nerve, in the neck. The device runs on a battery and can be set for the individual, to reduce seizures. NHS and other funding is sometimes available for the surgery. Similar devices are under development that, if successful, will involve less invasive procedures.
