Portage (Home developmental education)

Educational / developmental home visiting service for pre-school children with special needs, providing activities to develop areas such as early motor skills and use of language, with parents carrying out the teaching. Available in most but not all local authority areas of England and Wales.

Most services belong to the National Portage Association, tel: 01935 471641, www.portage.org.uk. Portage workers are qualified in early years and play work.
