Bobath and Neurodevelopment (ND) Therapy
Bobath is a physical technique principally used with cerebral palsy to inhibit abnormal (reflex) movements and postures and promote effective normalised movement and muscle tone. The whole approach also involves other therapies and day to day handling techniques. Ideas that have come from Bobath are used by many physiotherapists and other practitioners. Bobath practitioners can also be called ND therapists. Though the therapy is well-established, there is a need for a stronger evidence base.
