System of techniques for movement and inhibition of hypertonus, developed by a neurophysiologist and psychiatrist, Kabat, and two others (Knott and Voss). Includes sensory stimulation, irradiation (i.e. ways movement in one part of the body affects another part; does not refer to radiation), reflex stimulation, relaxation using ice, and functional / mat work. A specific technique that is sometimes used by chiropractors.
