Patterning and Developmental Therapy
Originated with Temple Fay, a neurosurgeon who believed that the stages of normal physical development mirror the progression of capabilities for movement in the evolution of species, from lying, squirming, creeping, and reciprocal motion to erect walking. He aimed to activate abnormally functioning parts of the body by working through patterns of movement, believed to unlock primitive reflexes and produce neurological reorganisation. The approaches of the Domans are influenced by Fay's work, and a number of others also draw on aspects of it, including some of the UK private treatment centres.
