The Cerebra Legal Entitlements Research Project provides support for disabled children, their families and advisers, who are encountering difficulties with the statutory agencies in relation to the provision of health care, social care and education. Our student advice teams at Cardiff Law School, under the supervision of legally qualified University staff, provide legal opinions setting out their views on each case, along with draft letters which parents can send to the relevant authority.
This Digest is a selection of the opinions produced by the Project in. All the young people’s names have been fictionalised. The opinions were prepared during the summer and autumn of 2013 and are a statement of the law and policy at that time – it should be remembered that the law does change.
This is our first Digest and we’ll be adding further Digests as the Project progresses – our aim is to develop a set of resources which will help other families facing similar difficulties.
