A guide for parents

Pain in children with severe brain conditions or limited communication may be hard to identify. This guide helps you understand how pain may be presented by your child, by explaining possible causes of pain and how pain may be shown by children who cannot tell us they are in pain. It also outlines what may happen if the pain is left untreated.

FLACC Pain Scale Infographic

We have produced a useful infographic which explains how to use the FLACC Pain Scale. This is a system that can help parents and professionals assess pain levels in children who have limited or no expressive communication.
