ITC Network and Support Technician
Salary circa £22,500.
The successful candidate will undertake tasks related to network maintenance and development. They will troubleshoot computer issues and provide 1st and 2nd line technical Help Desk support and guidance to our local and remote employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain Computer Networks – one of the primary tasks will be to maintain our computer network of Virtual Servers and Firewalls so that they run as effectively as possible to best serve the charity’s goals and daily operations. This involves monitoring, adjusting and configuring the systems as well as simply checking connections and cabling and testing that devices are working as they should.
Troubleshoot System Failures – ensure the network and infrastructure are as efficient as possible and fix any problems that have been identified.
Test Software – in addition to maintaining or repairing hardware and devices when issues arise, test software and configure it correctly. Manage the charities data backup system to ensure the system is protecting the charity’s data.
Provide Technical Guidance – importantly help colleagues with their computer and network usage problems, offering technical direction, instructions and advice to resolve issues.
Skills and Qualifications:
You should have a good knowledge of networks and computer systems, hands-on experience using various computer software and good troubleshooting skills. Good analytical thinking with strong diagnostic skills, methodical problem solving skills and troubleshooting abilities are important. Strong communications and good writing skills are a must as you will need to explain technical information to laypeople and compose email responses to queries.
A degree in a computer-related subject would be beneficial but not essential as previous experience in a similar position with an enthusiastic approach to the role would be just as beneficial.
