Research from the Decade of the Brain shows that as many as one in four will, at some point in their life, develop a neurological problem. These problems manifest themselves in conditions such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, learning difficulties, attention deficit, behavioural and emotional problems or developmental delay. In the UK it is known that one in forty children is severely disabled for life.
Cerebra is dedicated to reducing these appalling statistics and the work we have already done has been predominantly funded by donations from the general public.
We still have a long way to go before we can ensure a completely healthy generation of babies and we therefore welcome donations towards our work.
There are many ways of donating to Cerebra:
Payroll giving
If your company is a member of the Give As You Earn scheme, you can make a direct contribution from your salary. It's tax free (every £1 which you decide to donate will only cost you 76p) and you can, if you wish to, donate weekly or monthly up to a maximum of £100 per month.
You can terminate the arrangement at any time by giving your Payroll Department one months notice. Should you wish to further explore this option, the first step is to discuss the matter with your employer.
Gift Aid
If you are a UK taxpayer, for every £1 you donate we can reclaim tax to increase your donation by 28p through the Gift Aid scheme, making it worth £1.28. There's no extra cost to you - all you need to do is make sure you click the Gift Aid declaration if you are submitting a form online or complete the Gift Aid Form on any donations you make by post - You can contact our Carmarthen Office on 01267 244206 to be sent a Gift Aid Form.
By agreeing to Gift Aid your donation, you are confirming that you are a UK taxpayer and you are happy for us to reclaim tax on your donations.
Please note you must pay sufficient income or capital gains tax to cover the amount of tax Cerebra will claim back. So, for example, if you choose to give us a gift of £5 a month (£60 a year), then you must pay at least £16.80 in tax that year for Cerebra to be able to claim Gift Aid on your donations.
